Course Overview

This course comes with two options:

H003 (Full Scope): This is full dry stove installer course suitable for candidates who may intend to progress towards the H005DE Biomass Training & Assessment.

Candidates successfully completing the H003 with the correct prerequisites may progress to:

  • H004 โ€“ Wet Installer training & assessment
  • H005DE โ€“ Biomass training & assessment
  • H006 โ€“ System Chimney training & assessment
  • H008 โ€“ Dry Pellet Stove training & assessment
  • H009S โ€“ Sweeping Module training & assessment
  • H010 โ€“ Small Craft training & assessment*
  • H003DS (Defined Scope): Suitable for candidates who do not intend to progress to the H005DE Biomass Training & Assessment.

Candidates successfully completing the H003DS with correct prerequisites may progress to:

  • H004 โ€“ Wet Installer training & assessment
  • H006 โ€“ System Chimney training & assessment
  • H008 โ€“ Dry Pellet Stove training & assessment
  • H009S โ€“ Sweeping Module training & assessment
  • H010 โ€“ Small Craft training & assessment*
  • *NB: Candidates will also require H006 โ€“ System Chimneys

  • Solid fuel and the factors affecting fuel selection
  • Fuel preparation, seasoning & storage requirements
  • Appliance types and operating principles
  • Safe combustion of solid fuels
  • Industry rules, regulations & standards
  • Identifying & responding to unsafe situations
  • Chimneys, flues & terminals
  • Air supply & ventilation
  • Installation of hearths & fireplaces
  • Commissioning & handover of dry appliances
  • Identification of faults & the correct use of terminals
  • Service & Maintenance of dry solid fuel appliances

This course uses theory & practical activities.

HETAS Statement of Results

Prerequisites

At least one of the following:

  • HETAS H011 Sweeping Course
  • Demonstrable, relevant work experience.
  • OFTEC technician โ€“ 101, 102 or 105e.
  • Registered Gas Safe operative โ€“ CCN1 and HTR1
  • Registered member of GOMCS, APICS or NACS

Next Steps

Joining the HETAS Competent Person, or Sweep & Service Schemes.
Successful H003 or H003DS candidates can also progress on to other HETAS courses.

For successful candidates, your HETAS certificate will be processed and posted to your address. You are qualified from the date of the successful assessment. If you are new to the HETAS registration scheme, please await contact from HETAS regarding your membership, or feel free to contact them directly.

Qualificationย  expiry

The qualification lasts for 5 years before a refresher is required.
